Assignment 1
EU Parliament’s Website
Focus: Search & Navigation
Task
Come up with a better search experience concept that respect constraints and design KPIs.
Insight
EUR-LEX, the main EU Law repository with access to EU legal documents, available in all 24 EU’s official languages and updated daily.
Many internal users of the European Parliament’s websites are expert users. Mainly exploring European Union laws, regulations, or tracking the status of legislative proposals and elements.
The most used filters are: Collection (always used), Document reference (sometimes used), Date (often used), and, of course, a text box for search.
Landing page
Search page (with search results)
Search advance page
Concept
Goals (KPIs) I aim after visiting EUR-LEX’s website :
Reduce brain overload
“The current landing page is actually same as search page. The layout differences overwork the brain on unnecessary things.”
Time to complete task < 60
“ Combine all three pages ( landing page, search page, and advance search page) into one search page.”
Assignment 2
Finviz’s Financial Screener
Focus: Filters & Table
Task
Increase the number of paying customers by half the transition time from “free” to “Elite” from 42 days to 21 days.
Focus on screener’s filter and table.
Screener tab on "Free" plan
Screener tab with drop down filter options on "Free" plan
"Elite" section on "Free" plan
Client’s Information & Insights
Finviz ultimate goals is to sell more “Elite” tiers to customers also improving the UX.
Elite offers no advertisement, real-time updates, experts analysis, quick portfolios upload, customization features, such as advanced layout customization.
Finviz’s users goal is to compare data. They are majority above 30, highly trained and specialized in trading, and managing portfolio.
Most “Elite” users are very satisfied with the features it has, but they are also fine with the “free” plan for while.
“Free” plan users complain about the site experiences, such as speed of the interaction on the site, finding the right buttons and features on the site.
New users find the interface very complex and difficult to use and understand.
Users requested some features, like : better ways to save presets and import portfolios, manage filter fasters and be more confident around which filters to use, (available on Elite plans) custom alerts and notifications.
Idea Process
Together with Shahneela Shaukat, Nicky Dyer, Jeremy Manoto, and Claudine Rodriguez, as a group we start-off the projects with brainstorming ideas on what make users convert to elite quicker.
We create KPI tree from “Quick Win” and “Major project” for our individual base design concept.
My Design Concept
Our task is to come up with friendlier “free” plans screener page that attract customer to pay “Elite” plans. I start with sorting the KPI tree functions list to what can be applied into the Screener page.
